Error "Failed to validate premium status: Network Err" in Rust - how to fix?

Why does this error appear?

With the latest update, Rust introduced the Premium Servers system - special servers available only to players who have Rust skins worth $15 or more in their Steam inventory.

The main reasons for the error:

  1. You don't have any skins worth $15+ in your inventory (or their value has dropped).

  2. Steam sync issues (new purchases may take up to 20 minutes to update).

  3. Network failures (Steam was unable to verify your status).

  4. Using VPN (may interfere with verification).

How to fix the error?

1. Check if you have a premium status

  1. Open your Steam inventory ( link ).

  2. Select Rust and calculate the total cost of the skins (should be $15+ ).

    • The following are taken into account: weapon skins, buildings, decorations.

    • Not included: DLC (musical instruments, Voice Props, etc.).

2. If there are not enough skins

  • Buy skins from the Steam Market (for example, cheap "Wooden Door" or "Large Box" ).

  • Please wait 20 minutes - Steam may be delayed in updating your status.

3. Update the status manually

  1. In the Rust server menu, click on the Premium icon .

  2. Click on "Refresh" (circle arrow).

4. Check your internet connection

  • Disable VPN (if using).

  • Restart Steam and Rust.
