Rust Game Updates: Developer Commentary on Anti-Cheater Measures
In a recent update to Rust, one of the developers responsible for the network component spoke out about new measures taken to combat cheaters. These changes have long been at the center of community discussions.
One of the key measures that have been introduced is random recoil. Instead of a static recoil pattern, players will now have to cope with a more unpredictable weapon. This will make it much more difficult for cheaters who previously could confidently use assistance programs to shoot accurately.
Another important measure is the mandatory linking of a phone to an account. Now each player must confirm their identity using a mobile number. This is an additional step that will help the game creators fight cheaters more effectively, since they will not be able to create new accounts with impunity after blocking.
The updates also touched on other aspects of the game that the community had long suggested improving. For example, the cheater reporting system was improved, allowing players to notify the developers about suspicious behavior of other players.
In a comment, the developer noted that these changes come with tradeoffs related to game balance and ease of use, but they believe that the anti-cheat benefits are worth the tradeoffs. They also promised that they will continue to work on improving the anti-cheat system and listen closely to community feedback.
