Trade Protection in Rust and CS2: How it will affect skins and DLC rules
Valve has already implemented Trade Protection in CS2, and a similar system will be launched in Rust next week. This is an important step towards skin security and combating account hijacking.
? What is Trade Protection?
Now, if your account is hacked or is seen to be involved in suspicious activity, any trade will be held for 7 days . Items will be returned to the owner, but you will receive a 30-day block on trades and the marketplace .
? How will this affect our giveaways?
All skins that you win from us (for example, on Simple servers) will now also be held by the system for 7 days . This is a standard protection, do not worry - all skins will reach their owners , just with a slight delay.
⚠ New Facepunch Studios Rules: DLC and Skinbox Bans
Rust developers have updated the official rules for using DLC on servers . Now:
- You cannot grant access to DLC unless it was purchased through Steam (e.g. via skinbox or third-party commands).
- You can't restrict access to DLC if a player has purchased it - it should be available on any server.
- You cannot bypass DLC ownership checks or fake purchases.
Facepunch DLC includes official packs: building skins, decor packs, hazmat, instruments, cosmetics and more, sold through Steam.
What to do now?
Skinbox will contain less official skins , but you can add your custom skins through our section:
https://prostoj.store/custom-skins
✅ What is still possible:
- Add custom skins that are not included in the official DLC.
- Use Steam Workshop skins not approved by Facepunch.
- Configure and restrict access to unofficial content on servers.
We are always monitoring and adapting to Facepunch updates to ensure you have a safe and fair experience playing on the Simple servers .
