Return of the blueprint system

Rust has reintroduced the blueprint fragment mechanic. Now, crafting workbenches requires collecting special items:

Explosive drones are the new meta.

On the staging branch, the developers are testing the ability to load explosive devices onto drones. They can now carry:

• regular grenades,
• bee pomegranates,
• C4,
• and other items.

Drones are effectively being transformed into guided bombs. Tests have shown that the drone is capable of dropping smoke grenades, airdrops, individual weapons, and even backpacks. Some objects, such as propane bombs or rockets, are not yet supported.

Changes to monuments

• The Diesel engine's appearance at the Airfield and Wastewater Treatment Plant has been changed. It is now only awarded after completing the map puzzle.
• The Satellite Dishes and Dump have had their construction no-go zones made spherical, expanding the possibilities for nearby bases.
• If the monument is in zone T1 or T2, the loot in it will be better than in zone T0.
• The small oil platform no longer spawns in area T0.

Item balance

Some items have received changes to their characteristics:

New trap

A new type of spike trap is in development. There's no precise information yet about its visuals or mechanics, but it's expected to be placed in the ground.

New monument - volcano

Rust has a new development branch: Volcano. Work is underway on the model and lava, which will deal significant damage on contact and leave a burning effect.

Transport and mechanics

The updated bike now has the ability to perform a bunny hop. To do this, press the right mouse button, provided the bike has stamina and isn't flooded. This trick can be performed once every three seconds.

New mission rewards

Rust's developers delighted players with a mission update—now you can earn more scrap, useful teas, and additional items for completing quests. Let's compare what's changed:

? Boar Hunter

• Old reward: 100 scrap
• New reward: Simple Ore Tea and 150 Scrap

? Deer Hunter

• Old reward: 100 scrap
• New reward: Simple Scrap Tea and 150 Scrap

? Mission Fisherman

• Old Award: Kayak and Paddle
• New reward: Kayak, paddle, and 75 scrap

? Mission "8 Barrels of Fuel"

• Old reward: 100 scrap
• New reward: 250 scrap and 3 fish pies

? Shark Hunting

• Old reward: Drill, 3 syringes and 25 scrap
• New reward: Drill, 3 syringes and 50 scrap

? Mission Diving

• Old reward: Pump-action shotgun and 12 red bullets
• New reward: Pump-action shotgun, 12 red bullets, and 100 scrap

Missions are now not only more rewarding but also more varied. Players are given an additional incentive to complete tasks early in the wipe, as the rewards help them progress faster and gather resources. The addition of scrap is especially welcome—it's always in demand.

The new reward system clearly encourages active participation in missions. This may change the usual balance at the start of the wipe, as many will try to complete quests faster for the bonuses.

Rust: RT Update – Sphere Recycler and New Puzzles

Recycler on the sphere

The long-awaited Recycler has finally been added to the sphere . To reach it, you'll need to complete a puzzle with a green map . Inside, you'll find:

• processor,
• two boxes with loot,
• blue access card,
• A fragment of a common blueprint for crafting the 2nd workbench .

Changes at the ferry terminal

The ferry terminal has also been updated. A green map puzzle has now appeared there, and the reward for completing it includes:

• two boxes with valuable loot,
• blue access card,
• A fragment of a common blueprint for crafting a second workbench.

The addition of a Recycler to the Sphere and new puzzles add more variety to the game. The Sphere now becomes an even more sought-after location, and the Ferry Terminal gains additional value. This also increases competition for control of key PTs, as the rewards significantly aid development in the early stages of a wipe.

Performance and future plans

After the latest patch, players noticed a drop in FPS. The developers confirmed the issues and promise optimizations this month. Furthermore, insiders reported that the naval update will be released in November. To improve performance, you can use our game optimization guide .

Results

Rust is undergoing one of its most extensive changes in recent memory. The return of the blueprint system, drones with combat potential, new monuments, and item balancing could completely change the game's meta. Players can only wait for the updates to hit the main client.
