Rust October 2025 Update: Blueprints, C4 Drones, Volcano and New Mechanics
The return of the blueprint system
Rust has reintroduced the blueprint fragment mechanic. Now, to craft workbenches, you will need to collect special items:

Drones with explosives are the new meta
On the staging branch, the developers are testing the ability to load explosive devices into drones. Now they can carry:
- regular grenades,
- bee pomegranates,
- C4,
- and other items.
In effect, drones are being turned into guided bombs. Tests have shown that the drone is capable of dropping smoke grenades, airdrops, individual weapons, and backpacks. Some objects, such as propane bombs or rockets, are not yet supported.
Changes on monuments
- Diesel engine spawning has been changed at the Airfield and Wastewater Treatment Plants. It is now only given out after completing the map puzzle.
- The Satellite Dishes and Dump have had their construction no-go zones made spherical, expanding the possibilities for nearby bases.
- If the monument is in T1 or T2, the loot will be better than in T0.
- Small Oil Rig no longer spawns in T0.
Balance of items
Some items have received changes to their characteristics:

New trap
A new type of spike trap is in development. There is no exact information about its visuals and mechanics yet, but it is assumed that it will be placed in the ground.
New monument - volcano
Rust has a new development branch - Volcano. Work is underway on the model and lava, which will deal strong damage when touched and leave a burning effect.
Transport and mechanics
The updated bike now has the ability to perform a bunny hop. To do this, you need to press the right mouse button, provided that the bike has stamina and is not flooded. You can use the trick once every three seconds.
Performance and upcoming plans
After the latest patch, players noticed a drop in FPS. The developers confirmed the problems and promise optimizations this month. In addition, insiders reported that the marine update will be released in November.
Results
Rust is going through one of its biggest changes in a long time. The return of the blueprint system, drones with combat potential, new monuments, and item balancing could completely change the game's meta. Players will have to wait for the updates to hit the main client.
