New changes to AI behavior are being prepared on a separate branch:

• Scientists' field of vision has been significantly reworked, making it much easier for players to remain undetected. This means you'll be able to sneak up behind them much more easily, or just run past them as long as you're not in their field of vision. But keep in mind that scientists will still notice you even from behind if you get too close to them.
• Scientists will more often run directly to cover instead of slowly walking backwards and shooting back when they are low on health or ammo
• If a scientist is attacked by a player he has not yet seen, he will immediately take a combat position and start shooting back instead of immediately running to the nearest shelter
• Scientists will be less likely to run for cover if they take damage, but if they have less than 40% of their total health remaining, the chance of them stopping fighting and running for cover will be increased

The changes are still not final and may change, and the release date is still unknown.
