Big oil rig in Rust

The Big Oil Rig is one of the most valuable and challenging monuments in Rust . It was introduced in the QoL Update (April 5, 2019) and has been a key target for experienced players ever since. In this guide, we will analyze what awaits you on the rig, what resources you can find and what dangers you will have to overcome.

Where to look for boxes

Zero level (berth)

There is no loot on the starting platform, but you will encounter two scientist guards who are covering the approach to the oil rig.

First level

There won't be any crates here either. Three scientists patrol the floor, preventing players from going higher without a fight.

Second level

  • Loot: regular, military and medical boxes.
  • Security: 3 scientists .

Third level

  • Loot: 1-2 boxes + closed green room with valuable resources.
  • Security: 4 scientists .

Fourth level

  • Loot: A couple of boxes in an open area + 2 closed rooms.
  • Security: 3 scientists .

Fifth level

There is more open loot here, and the best boxes are hidden in the ventilation shafts . Elite boxes can be found.

Security: 3 scientists .

Sixth level (upper)

There are crates on the roof and near the helipad , but most of the loot is hidden in a locked room. There is a locked military crate here that, when cracked, yields:

  • the alarm goes off,
  • a helicopter arrives with 11 elite scientists ,
  • The timer is turned on for 15 minutes.

After the countdown is over, you can pick up the top loot.

Recycler, Workbench and Study Table

  • Workbench Level II - in the green room on the 3rd floor.
  • The Recycler is behind the door with the fuse on the 4th floor.
  • Study Table - Under the helipad on the upper level.

Closed spaces

There are rooms on the oil rig that can only be opened with access cards and fuses:

  • 3rd floor - green card (boxes + level II workbench).
  • 4th floor - blue card (loot room) and fuse (recycler + blue card).
  • Floor 6 - red card (top loot and war box).

The large oil rig is equipped with a video surveillance system. Below is a list of available codes:
