Cargo in Rust: how to get in, grab loot, and leave
Find the Cargo Ship on the map, prepare a boat, fuel, and medical supplies. After landing, clear the nearest deck, control the ladders, and start looting crates. When the signal to leave is given, do not delay for the last loot.

Landing, deck control, and disembarkation
Choose the ladder with water
Specify the position and heading of the ship on the map. Approach the available gangway, assess NPCs and players on the deck. Do not leave all the fuel supply in another vehicle.

- Choose the ladder with water
Specify the position and heading of the ship on the map. Approach the available gangway, assess NPCs and players on the deck. Do not leave all the fuel supply in another vehicle.
- Clear the nearest deck.
Deal with the nearest NPCs and check the passages near the containers. Staircases and entrances to the lower part of the ship are separate directions that need to be monitored.
- Start the hack and choose positions.
Regular hackable crates on the Cargo map do not require cards. Coordinate with the crate's timer; one player can watch for approaches while another gathers loot.
- Watch towards the shore in the parking lot.
Loading containers and passages from the harbor side give enemies new ways to board the ship. Check not only the usual ladder from the water.
- Leave the ship before going out of the map.
Find working transport for waste disposal in advance. A horn before departure from the harbor indicates the start of movement; a warning of event departure from the map is a reason to leave immediately, before dangerous radiation.
How to get on the ship
- Open the map and determine the position and direction of movement of the Cargo Ship.
- Approach the available ladder on the boat. Consider NPCs and players on board; do not jump into the water with a full inventory without a plan.
- After reaching the top, deal with the nearest threats and clear your way back.
- Clear the deck and corridors, then check the crate locations. Maps are not needed for regular hackable Cargo crates.
Crates and Harbor Outpost
The ship can enter harbors: at this moment, additional attack directions from the shore appear. Start the hack only after preparation; watch the remaining time on the crate itself. Do not shoot the crate in an attempt to speed up the timer.
Scrap with loot
- Before the final gathering, check the availability of transportation for evacuation and distribute the loot among the participants.
- Watch out for the signal of the ship leaving and the radiation threat when exiting the game zone.
- Leave before evacuation routes are cut off. If the boat is unavailable, assess the distance to the shore and gear up for the jump.
- Deliver the loot to the base; process the excess with a separate output.
What is the most common obstacle to completing Cargo?
- Boarding a ladder already occupied without scouting.
- Everyone is watching the box, while the water and harbor entrances remain unguarded.
- Trying to wait for one more crate after the warning about the airdrop.
