Improving the rendering of buildings in the game Rust
The test branch of the Rust game is actively working on improving the rendering of buildings. The developer of the project, Jake Rich, reports that after the changes, the game's performance in some conditions has increased by 40% or more.
Previously, base rendering was done on the processor, which reduced performance on large servers. With the new method, rendering is transferred to the video card, which significantly speeds up the process. Now players will be able to observe buildings on the entire map without losing performance.
In addition, Jake plans to optimize other building elements so that bases do not become a performance issue for players.
