:tochka: Game crashes
You may have noticed a few Rust client updates in your Steam library this week. Earlier in the week, there were increased client crashes. However, the latest update was found to be causing even more crashes, so Facepunch pulled it back.
:tochka:Tugboat progress
Rust's newest watercraft continues to evolve this week. The Tugboat branch has been updated with new features and functionality, including a bunch of fixes to the tugboat model and physics. There are also several new spawn points for the new tugs on the map, including two in each harbor.
Interestingly, players will now be able to use tugboats as a mobile spawn point, placing their bags or beds on them. There are no visuals or specific details at the moment, as this is still in a separate thread, but we will keep you updated as more information about this new vessel becomes available.

There's also a lot of other water-related work happening in other branches. In the Diving Suit branch, the team is working on improving the Diver's flashlight and assault rifle. Based on the commits, it's possible that the Diver Suit will be part of the upcoming DLC.
In the Water 5 branch, the team continues to work on various improvements to the in-game water system. The Aux2 branch has been updated several times this month, and it appears the team is internally testing new features before release.
A ferry terminal is also being tested and refined on Aux2 for a future launch. It's unclear how it will be used in-game, but it will spawn near harbors and may be related to the server-to-server cargo transfer work that has been going on for some time.

The Global Network Bases branch is continuing to optimize per-player base rendering to improve performance and reduce latency. Bases will be loaded into the map as prefabs, similar to how trees and rocks are loaded. The quality of the base will improve as you get closer. This should reduce instances where you're quickly moving around the area in a drone and experience a huge frame drop/stutter as a huge base, previously invisible, quickly appears in the frame. This optimization is one of the biggest for the game, and we're looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
