Rust: Connection attempt failed and login timeout

Check the address from the directory and the server status. Then try logging into another server: this helps to differentiate between an issue with one server and a connection problem.

What to check

  1. Copy the fresh connection command: an old IP or incorrect port won't work.
  2. If there is a restart or update, wait for the online status to appear.
  3. Restart Steam and Rust; make sure the update has finished downloading.
  4. Check logging into another server. If none work, check network stability and permissions for Rust and Steam in the firewall settings.
  5. If the issue is only with our server, please send the server name, time, and error message to support.

If the server is full

Queue is a separate state. Do not restart the game multiple times while waiting; first check the queue message and the number of players on the server card.
